If you're on KaZaA, chances are you have this worm « Thread Started on Oct 30, 2003, 10:37am »
Win32.Kindal.A@mm
It's a worm that spreads itself as files with interesting names that you never even downloaded. You might have 3 files in your downloaded folder but at the bottom, it'll say your kazaa email and that you're sharing much much more files than that.
To check to be sure, Open your harddrive, click your Windows folder or your Winnt folder (NTFS) and check your Media folder. If infected, you should have numerous files in there all with a cute kitty cat picture. If clicked, a popup will appear saying, "Fix the leaks or the ship will sink." When you click ok there will be another popup to make you think it was a legitimate file but on the popup is an address error so the program didn't load.
All these files will have either a 40kb, 44kb, or 48kb file size. Since they're all hosts for this Win32.Kindal.A@mm worm, you cannot simply delete them.
The payload of these worms is not what you might think. From what I understand, this virus blocks a few websites. Not sure which ones. Anywho, IMO, the most annoying part of this worm is the names it has on some of the files that you don't even download. Like one of them is "child incest kiddy porn" among other things.
Do everyone a favor. Check your drive, make sure you don't carry this worm, and if for some reason you do, make sure you get rid of it.
